CONNECTICUT NATIVE MATT DELEO WINS HIS TRUE TO HIS WORD
The road to success for Matt DeLeo has been defined as nothing short of hard work, dogged determination, and a belief that one day he will become a national bodybuilding champion. Well, that day has come and the 26 year old Waterbury native has risen to national stardom. The former Mr. Connecticut 2001 has earned his pro card at a recent N.B.I. national competition in Tarrytown, N.Y. on October 2, 2004 by placing first in a competitive junior class. He is now qualified to compete with the big boys of the sport and earn prize money. DeLeo competed in the same building in Tarrytown back in March of 2001 for the Mr. New York competition when he finished second place in his first ever bodybuilding competition. The return to Tarrytown for DeLeo was long awaited and this was his chance for redemption and be crowned national champion. DeLeo says, "The competition is fierce and I knew coming in that I had to be mentally and physically prepared to earn my professional status." With the help of trainer/mentor Ted Clark, DeLeo lived up to the words spoken to the press three years ago after capturing a state title, "Ted helped me with my posing and my diet. He has big plans for me the future. Hopefully, I'll have a national title under my belt. That's my goal." Goal achieved! DeLeo's preparation was certainly evident that night. "My confidence level was at an all time high. I am in the best shape of my life right now. It wasn't easy training for this show. Your caloric intake is quite low. You can get pretty irritable a couple of weeks before the show. I knew that this show was my shot," stressed DeLeo. Matt will now take some time off from the stage and train for the track. This summer he qualified for the nationals in track and field in Colorado based on a stellar performance in the Nutmeg Games in Connecticut. He will be running in the 110 meter and 200 meter dashes in July 2005 where he will be vying for a spot in the Olympic trials for 2008. DeLeo is a 1995 Wolcott High School graduate and trains clients in Fairfield County at his gym in Westport, CT. DeLeo states, "A fact of life is that most people spend most of their time during the day working. Also, people say that they don't have time in their busy schedules to dedicate to exercising and their energy levels are wiped out by the end of the working day. DeLeo has trained hundreds of clients over the years and time and time again his formula for reducing body fat, increasing muscle tone, and generating a feeling of accomplishment and pride has been successful for his clients. If you have any doubt about his formula for success, just take a look at him now! Somehow you get the feeling that others will soon tune in and listen to the words spoken and advice given by Matt DeLeo, National Bodybuilding Champion 2004.
