As once said by Wayne Gretzky, an infamous hockey player, "You miss 100 percent of the shots you never take." My name is Mohsin Khan and I would consider myself an interestingly unique individual. After reading that quote I thought I’d look into other opportunities I could engage in other than just lifting for fun. I started to look into bodybuilding, fitness modeling, and fashion modeling. Ever since I could remember I was always a competitive individual. From, betting my friend to see who could get to school first, to arm wrestling other classmates to see who was strongest, I was always competitive.
I first started lifting weights when my friend dared me that I could never be stronger than him in the bench press. I challenged him and then went to buy a weight bench. I eventually surpassed his bench press max of 205 in the late summer or eight grade and then left him far behind as soon as we were freshmen. Being involved in sports throughout my high school, I had to remain fit and strong. I continued to lift throughout high school and eventually participated in a power lifting competition where I placed third. In the end of junior year my buddy asked me to go to a modeling audition with him and luckily I made the cut. That soon followed by a photo shoot which got my name out to the modeling world.
After I got done building up my portfolio, I thought I’d pursue a different hobby. Late freshmen year in college I thought I’d compete in my first bodybuilding show. This time I was lifting for a purpose. Bodybuilding for me consisted of hours of grueling workouts, with the ever-so dreadful hours of cardio all with no carbohydrates in your body. Dieting and training intensely for 12 weeks, I was finally ready to compete in my first show. I ended up taking 2nd in the teen’s class and fourth in the men’s novice tall class. Bodybuilding gave me the determination and will power to set my mind on a task and go through hell to accomplish it.
