My name is Aaron Ransom and I’m a NPC Bodybuilder and Fitness Model. I currently attend East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina, majoring in Health Fitness Specialist with a minor in nutrition.
Since I was a child, I have been involved with athletics from basketball to football to track and field. I played AAU basketball through my years in middle school but another sport came and took my heart and that’s when track and field took my focus. When I entered high school, I was already a city champion in middle school and a lot of the older guys did not respect me so I had to prove myself which I did very fast. My freshman year was the best freshman year in school history. At the end of the season, I was the first freshman in school history to be awarded with the Most Valuable Player award. That year, I also traveled to Des Moines, Iowa to participate in the AAU Junior Olympic Games which brings some of the most elite athletes in their sports in the United States. The trip was a great experience because I was able to see some of the best athletes in the country and it made me work even harder for my sophomore year. Through high school, I dominated my competition with state championships and even a national championship and eventually caught the eyes of many Division I colleges. At the end of the recruiting process, I chose to attend East Carolina University.
My freshman year was nothing I expected it to be. I was injured most of the year and was devastated when the head coach retired before the season began. When he left, my love for the sport went with him and that’s when my track career went downhill. I went from a high a high school All-American to a fallen one. It was very difficult emotionally and physically for me and my sophomore year I decided to walk away from the sport for good.
After walking away from track, I was left with more time on my hands than I could imagine but unlike many of my counterparts in college I did not go drink and party. My competitive hunger needed to be fed that’s when the weight room became my release from my everyday troubles. After a few months of weight training, I noticed I had made some muscle gains and decided to try my chances at bodybuilding.
In the summer of 2009, I did my first show, the NPC Virginia Gran Prix. I placed sixth in the middleweight division in my first show and was distraught by my performance and made me even hungrier to bring a better package to my next show. My second show was the NPC Virginia/DC State Championships which I placed fourth in the light-heavyweight division but I still wasn’t satisfied. So I tried my chances at the NPC Lenda Murray Championships which I did not place but was loaded with many national contenders. The experiences made me stronger as a person and helped me mentally and physically. But now I have become hooked with the fitness lifestyle and I’m in love with it. Through the months, I learned more and more about the diet and training aspect of health. I haven’t learned yet what my body can do yet but I’m still young and I’ll figure it out eventually. Fitness has become my life but I love to just relax and stay in. I’m not a person that likes to go out or do things I know I shouldn’t be doing.
After my competitive season was over, I was referred to John Mitchell of BBPics by a good friend, Oscar Fajardo. I was up for anything and thought it would be a great experience to do a photoshoot. In the next few weeks, we set up a photoshoot. I did not know what to expect going up to Connecticut but the trip took my breath away. Working with John was a true privilege and he is an artist with the body. He brings out the best in your body for the best shots. During the shoot, I was able to meet Cain and Sesar Cardiel who made the trip that much better. After seeing the shots, I know I will definitely work with John in the future. Thank you John for you time and work!!!
