Hello my name is Rudy Maravilla. I'm 27 years old and I live in Los Angeles, California . Graduated from San Fernando high school and attended Los Angeles Mission College. I love staying active. I play soccer and workout 5-6 days a week.
Growing up my parents always kept me involved in sports. I began playing soccer at the age of 8. While in elementary I also got into a running club. I ran my first complete marathon in 6th grade. I ran 3 more the following years. My life was basically school, soccer and running. I was really skinny all throughout my middle school years.
When I got to high school I joined the school soccer team and stopped running marathons. I played soccer for a club outside high school as well. My soccer skills were very developed at this point and made varsity as freshman. I was very athletic but very skinny. I was about 130-135 throughout my high school years. The advantages were that I was very fast and quick with the ball. I got few offers for division 1 and 2 universities but I didn't want to relocate so stayed in my hometown.
After high school I went on to college and continued playing soccer. Although I still loved it it wasn't the same. Had a great first year and before I started my second year I got hurt playing for an outside team. I. Was able to partially heal right before my second season started to I decided not to sit the season out so I played. That's something I did regret for the fact that I wasn't 100% healed and it affected my game.
After that I decided to take a break and got a full time job. A couple years after I started to notice I didn't like the way I looked. It's funny because since I was so active all my life I thought I was "shredded" and that I looked good. So I looked at myself in the mirror and reality was that I was skinny and unhappy with how I looked.
That was a turning point in my life. Visited a local gym and decided to sign up. Going to a gym and seeing all these big guys looking at you try to work out was intimidating especially if you don't know your way around. I didn't let that stop me I continued going 5-6 times a week. Started developing some routines and got more familiar with the equipment. Suddenly I started looking forward to training every day. Started getting compliments from my friends and it felt good.
At this point I have about 4 years training on a regular basis. When I stepped in the gym the first time I was at 145lbs. I reached 185 about a year ago and decided to do a fitness show. It wasn't easy but I've done 2 shows so far. All my dieting, posing and training was done by me. The first show was July 20, 2013. I placed 4th in men’s physique Class C. Three weeks after I competed again and placed 1st in my class.
Working out has been so influential in my life. At one point I was going out and drinking every weekend but every morning I woke up hung over I knew that I was unhappy. There's time for everything and still enjoy going out once in a while but training is my priority and I love it. I eat clean 90% of the time and enjoy it. Of course once in a while I have my cheat meals.
