Derek Anthony: Competitive Bodybuilder - Model - Actor The thrill of competition and working hard to show improvement within mind, body, and myself has been long my dream and desire. Like many other boys my first goal, was to be the most outstanding baseball player in every league that I competed; this goal was one in which I worked long hours and extremely hard, starting in little league at the age of six to my junior year in high school in Long Island, New York. In the summer of my junior year I suffered an injury to my ankle, which threatened my baseball career, and I was determined to rehabilitate the ankle and get back on the field as my senior season was dawning. This drove me to the gym for extensive rehabilitation workouts. As the long hours in the gym wore on I noticed that my size and strength began to increase and my love for the game of baseball began to drift as the love of the art of bodybuilding began to alter my dreams and give me a new goal in life...To become a bodybuilder! During the past three years, bodybuilding has become my main focus, actually overtaking my whole day with respect to eating, sleeping and dreaming of the art of bodybuilding with the ultimate dream of attaining my pro card. Bodybuilding has also filtered into my life in college. My primary area of study is in the field of health, specifically anatomy, and I hope to apply this to an undetermined career choice in this area. My love and desire for the art of bodybuilding has completely engrossed my life. My family, friends and girls that I have dated have accepted that this sport is and will always be a major part of my life. It has also given me the opportunity to train with and learn from some of the top names in the sport: Dave Plaumbo (Top NPC Super Heavyweight and video Producer of Reconstruction of a Bodybuilder), Johnny Moya (2001 Night of Champions), Mike Ryan (Mr. USA 1995 - Lightheavyweight ) and Doug Wentz (Top NPC Super Heavyweight). I would like to take this opportunity to thank each one of these guys for sharing their knowledge with me and having the patience to help an eager gym-rat pursue his dream. I would also like to give a special thanks to photographer John Mitchell. We shot in New York in mid-January of this year and I have to say it was one of the best experiences I have ever had with a photographer. It was such a pleasure working him and his professionalism and creativity are unparalleled. He is truly one of the best in the business. Well I hope this brief introduction has given you some insight into my life. Basically, my philosophy about the sport can be summed up in following statement:

***************************************** I want to personally thank Derek Anthony for taking the time to coordinate and arrange this photoshoot within a few weeks of our initial contact. It was a pleasure to work with such an outstanding individual. I never did such a diversified urban location shoot before and wondered how it would all come together. We did a tremendous amount of photos in a relatively short time period of time moving from location to location in NYC having head turns and whistle cat calls. I had a blast! A big thanks to you Derek Anthony! We plan to do future shoots this upcoming Spring and Summer up here in Connecticut. View Photo Portfolio Site Created & Hosted by MetroHost.Com
